Portuguese horror feature films to compete for the first time in the Best European Horror Feature Award

Lisbon, 13 August 2018: MOTELX - Lisbon International Horror Film Festival will screen the world premiere of two Portuguese horror feature films. Fernando Alle's "Mutant Blast" and Paulo Leite's "Inner Ghosts" are among the selection of films to compete for the MOTELX Award - Best European Horror Feature Film / Méliès d'Argent. This is the first time that Portuguese horror films have been included in this list.
Lisbon, 13 August 2018: MOTELX - Lisbon International Horror Film Festival will screen the world premiere of two Portuguese horror feature films. Fernando Alle's "Mutant Blast" and Paulo Leite's "Inner Ghosts" are among the selection of films to compete for the MOTELX Award - Best European Horror Feature Film / Méliès d'Argent. This is the first time that Portuguese horror films have been included in this list.

"The inclusion of two Portuguese feature films in the competition was a dream that we never thought would come to fruition as soon as the 3rd edition of this award. It is the corollary of more than ten years working to stimulate the production of this genre in Portuguese cinematography. Perhaps due to this, this edition will be historical", says João Monteiro, director of MOTELX.

The Portuguese horror films will then compete for the MOTELX Award - Best European Horror Feature Film / Méliès d'Argent with seven other European films. The directors of the nine productions will attend the Festival and share their experiences and projects with the audience. List of the feature films in competition:

5. Hagazussa: a Heathen's Curse (Germany/Austria, 2017), by Lukas Feigelfeld. National Premiere 
6. Inner Ghosts (Portugal/Brazil, 2018), by Paulo Leite. World Premiere  
7. Knife+Heart (France/Mexico/Switzerland, 2018), by Yann Gonzalez. 
8. Luz (Germany, 2018), by Tilman Singer. National Premiere 
9. Mutant Blast (Portugal, 2018), by Fernando Alle. World Premiere
